An NIUA delegation, led by Director, Dr Debolina Kundu, is attending the UrbanShift City Academy in Jakarta, Indonesia from August 27-29, 2024. This global capacity-building initiative is organized jointly by the UNEP, World Resources Institute, C40 Cities, and ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability.

Attended by representatives and national government officials from UrbanShift cities in Indonesia, India, and China, the City Academy focuses on three critical themes: Circular Economy Strategies, Nature-Based Solutions, and Integrated Climate Action Planning.

As the Executing Agency for the UrbanShift Country project, NIUA looks forward to the insightful discussions and meaningful collaborations this event will foster, contributing to a resilient and sustainable urban future.

During the inaugural session, Dr Kundu, Director, NIUA, highlighted the importance of capacity-building events like the UrbanShift Indonesia City Academy in bridging the gap between knowledge and practice. She emphasised NIUA’s significant role in building capacities on key urban issues through knowledge management, research, and advocacy.
