The main objective of the said Guidelines is to make transit-oriented development implementable in Indian cities.The Guidelines will de-mystify TOD, interpret TOD as a development approach to improve access to transit nodes,endorse it as a regeneration strategy in brownfields, offer flexibility for its strategic implementation in diverse urban contexts,and propose an evaluation matrix to assess the impact of TOD implementation;thereby making their recommendations relevant to other Indian cities as well as other developing economies.
